Wish Village is a free game with no accounts and nothing to buy. This page says what it keeps, where and why.
On your device
The game saves your progress in your browser's local storage, on your own device:
- Your chibi: its look, its nickname, your current wish (with your own words if you wrote them) and the wishes that came true.
- Your language, if you chose one.
- Your device link code, only if you turned device link on.
Clearing your browser's site data deletes all of it.
On our server, only if you link a device
When you tap “Get my code” under “Play on another device”, a copy of your save (the same things as above) is kept on our server so that your devices can stay in step. It is stored under a random id, with no name, email or phone number. The secret part of your code is stored only as a hash.
Your own wish words are part of that copy so they appear on your other devices.
“Unlink my other devices” replaces the code; the old QR code and link stop working. “Turn off and delete” removes the copy from the server; your chibi stays on the device you are using.
What other villagers see
- While you are in the village: your chibi, its nickname, your wish (the ready-made one you picked, or the words you wrote yourself), how many stars it has, how many of your wishes came true, where you walk and what you do (waving, hugging, snowballs, gifts, dancing).
- This passes through our server only while you are connected and is not stored. The world's count of wishes on the tree is kept, with nothing about who hung them.
- Nicknames with rude words are refused and replaced. There is no chat: nobody can send you a message.
Services we use
- Cloudflare hosts the game and the device link copies. Like any web host it handles your IP address to deliver the pages and to limit abuse; the game does not store it.
- Google Fonts provides the lettering, so your browser asks Google's servers for the font files.
- Google Analytics counts visits and a few actions (entering the village, hanging a wish, sharing, linking a device) so we can see what people enjoy. It uses cookies and never receives your wish words, your nickname or your device link code. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it runs without analytics cookies. Advertising features are switched off everywhere.
- No advertising.
Children
The game asks for no personal information. Please use a nickname rather than a real name: it is shown to other players. Parents can delete everything by clearing the browser's site data and, if device link was used, with “Turn off and delete”.
